This may be rather personal, but I'll ask and if it is you don't have to answer. It's not need-to-know, anyway. I was just wondering what you do for a living in the real world. I have a rough idea where you live (I don't know if I'm at liberty to say but anyone who's been around long enough probably knows from several posts a while back and an issue with Sapphire's signature or something like that), but I don't know what you actually do. So, Sapphire... What do you do for a living in the real world?

But I kept my identy private, because I do not want to lose my freedom walking on the street. There are many crazy people on earth you know.

Especially when it is New York. I couldn't live there, don't know how you do. What Sapphire likes to keep hidden is that he is a billionare with lots of women in his life. He don't want the rest of us to find him, so we can't take his women and money.

That is right. Not only that... I am going to run for the President of 2012, before the WORLD ENDS. In that case, no one can say... HE OR SHE IS THE LAST PRESIDENT ON EARTH. Make sure everyone votes for me.

He don't want the rest of us to find him, so we can't take his women and money. I second the "how do you live in New York". I've only been there once, but it's so crazy and busy. We made the mistake of driving there from Virginia, and oh my gosh... traffic is crazy! And cab drivers are nuts. They jump the lights right before they're about to change (meaning they're halfway through the light before it turns green) and will cut you off without a second thought. Thank goodness I drive an M3, so I have the horsepower to outrun the bastards. Cost of living is prohibitive to most, so Sapphire must be doing pretty well. I considered a few jobs in Manhattan and decided against it finally because my lifestyle would be drastically lowered. For example, I looked at the real estate market and it was pretty common to see one bedroom apartments @ about 1000 square feet selling for around $1 Million. Thanks, but no thanks. $1 Million buys a mansion where I live now New York is, however, a really cool place to visit. Back to that other note, if you don't want to tell the forum members exactly what you do for a living, how about your field? I'll start off sharing time by offering up my background: I have a bachelors and masters degree in Information Technology and graduated at the top of my class. I've worked in the IT field for around ten years, and currently work in Information Assurance. My last job was at a hospital as the CIO, and now I'm working as the Senior IA Manager for the largest network in the world. I love what I do... ensuring the security of my network. I also have experience in just about all areas of IT, including programming (web mostly) and database development. Although I work with PCs on the job, at home I won't use anything but my precious Mac laptop. ;D Set aside my computer nerdiness, I strive to someday be a writer... I want to write fantasy novels. The trick to that of course, is finding the time! So, there's my show and tell. Anyone else want to share?

Ew, web programming. I hate anything to do with web programming. It made my life as a young c++ programmer difficult.

Chances are that it doesn't like the surface you're using for a "mouse" pad. Try something with more variety, meaning a pattern of sorts instead of something solid colored. If that's not the issue, it could be any number of things. Sometimes wireless mice wig out when their batteries are low. Any of that fit the bill?

Ew, web programming. I hate anything to do with web programming. It made my life as a young c++ programmer difficult. And what's wrong with web programming? It makes you a stronger programmer to have a grasp of multiple languages. And anyway, most of them are object oriented, so once you learn one, it's simple to pick up others. And hey, you say you're a C++ programmer, so what do you have against Java? Java is "based" on C++ silly!

I don't hate Java. Well, yes, I do. It's an easier language and is less powerful than C++, though after last semester's programming course I do respect it more. I can understand it, at least. C++ is far (far far far far far) more error prone than Java is. I've given up on programming though. I'm pretty good at it, if I do say so myself. There are better, but I'm at least decent. I just couldn't do it I guess. I don't even know how to explain it. I had to learn a million different languages to be an acceptable programmer and I guess I was too lazy to learn them in time. Ahh, I didn't tell you. Before I was a physics major, I wanted to be a programmer. Game developer, as it were. (and before that a fantasy writer or a poet) Don't think I'm good enough for that, but I won't ever know now, . Unless I change majors... Then again, physics is hard too. And more obscure; less focused. Bah.
