When I was a kid I used to play a game with myself while I was laying in bed.
I started playing this game after I discovered that if I just lay still and just look at one spot above me my vision will fade without closing my eyes.
I know that this had to be something other than falling asleep because when fall asleep it's instant. No fading or anything enless I'm trying to keep myself awake.
So I recently started doing this again.
The thing that makes this hard is trying to keep your eyes from drying out without blinking.
Some time last month I finally won this game.
I've been top the point where everything goes black many times but this was different.
After my vision went black I gradually started losing sensation from my body.
After I lost sensation I started seeing vivid colors. Afterwords I gradually drifted back to full consciousness.
I've been trying to do this again in order to see if the colors mean anything but I haven't been able to yet.

as far as I know - and the way the Buddhist thought me - you are doing a clearing/concentration exercise. very very powerful and extremely important. you can do it two ways: focus in an object - for an example: candle, mirror, or an analog watch - this object usually is considered to reflect+increase your energy. You can use whatever fits( it is most important ) - I sometimes use the reflection of the sunshine on a water surface or the green leaves on a tree ... focus without an object - this is subjective meditation - you have to make up an elaborate but interesting enough complicated meditation and hold the momentum of the meditation over and over. both of the methods are done in a certain amount of time. both of the methods rely heavily on you shutting out your thoughts before you enter and hold the trans state. It is an important practice in my opinion. so if looking at one spot above your vision works - then you've found your way hope this helped a little bit ..

This sounds exactly like what I do when I do this. I haven't been able to achieve this state again yet. Dragon, I do that alot to, but i can never look at one place long enough for it to all go black, my eyes like to move to much, >.<, guess i just need to focus more. It is a very hard thing to do. But when I reached that state I saw random bursts of color. I'm thinking if I obtain this state again and I concentrate on what I am experiencing a little more it might make sense.

I don't set aside special time. I have hardly any time to practice ap. When I do practice it's just before bed and some nights I fall asleep during an ap attempt.
