This is what I have been thinking of late...You dont then need to relax the mind/body as it already is so and if you can become lucid and take control you can induce a projection...
The nearest I have come thus far is I was awoken very early in the morning but drifted back to sleep...Whilst I was drifiting in mind awake/body asleep mode I got body wide vibrations and was very close to separation...
I guess I stopped and it was aborted because I thought my partner would awaken too and see my "vibrating" wildly...!
I have since found out that this phenomena is not visible to those watching a projector but this is little good now!
LOL!
Nevermind...

I personally do not feel vibrations. Not even day one. Vibration is overly rated.
If you overly believe in vibration, it might become a obstacle for you.
I am not sure what concept of astral projection you have (where is the source you learn AP). Many writers write different things, and very seldom they are correct.
The accurate astral projection is a way... you temperately separate your astral (soul) from your human body, which means when you exit, you should be exit with full body, which means you are able to see yourself.
The best example is... those human who passed away, because the body does not function anymore, so their souls exit their human body, ....surposely.... no vibrations.
The way I taught in my book is this kind of astral projection.

I did once feel vibrations; however just before I entered the 9th dimension (see revelatorium.com for details of this). I guess when you challenge yourself in astral projection you can feel the effects more.

I wake up early and stay awake for maybe 30 minutes and then go back to sleep without moving and I have a dream and become lucid and then snap back into my body and then just roll out or float away. Most of my APs, though, are not 100 percent lucid and are easily confused as dreams.

I have only experienced vibrations once, when I was sick. And I ended up with astral paralysis. Other than that, I do not experience vibrations at all.
For me, my favorite method is the one you mentioned about waking up early and then projecting. Soooo easy! ;D However, I too slip into dreams after 5-10 mins, more often than not.
