I'm back on this forum after a 4 day absence.
There is on game I will never miss on any arcade game I played in the past. It goes back 18 years ago when I had the NES system. The game: Wizards & Warriors.
With the internet available to the public in the past 10 years, one can pick up a very rare set of games that has all NES as well SNES games ever made from a video tech pro who can make one. You just have to know who and to install the system from the CD into your PC.
As far as a non-protech video game player is concerned, hardly nobody has ever advanced to the castle from the very first forest scene in the NES game Wizards & Warriors. I tried to move Kuros around the forest in various places by giving him the pink potion of levitation to boost him up in the trees. There is a tip I will give you: When you move Kuros up in the very top of the trees(in the first forest) bounce up and down, left and right a glowing door will appear on the screen on top of the trees. Enter this door. It will lead you temporarily inside a room of diamonds which you have to collect to add points. Be sure when you see this door, enter it without side scrolling out of its view, cause if you do and go back to its original location, the door will be no longer available to see or attempts to relocate. Also while your ontop of the trees, move Kuros around serveral times and a flashing color of relics will appear(the color will be in a light blue color). Pick em up for up from5,000 to 10,000 points maximum (This appears on top of a few castle tops as well. Be sure not to miss those relics ,or your oppurturnity will pass by you.)
This game consists of different realms shown first on the map before each stage. You will begin with a sword, and being covered with armor and shield (al through the game). As you progress in the game, there will be other choices of weaponry for you to obtain. The most helpful to go along with you is finding the battle axe. This weapon will retrieve back to you once you use it to slay your enemies(bats,ghouls,snakes,skulls,bees,spiders,levitating/flying horses, and yes,the evil wizard Malkil). Think of it as a boomerang.
In addition,be sure to find the feather of fall, which you will need it to prevent long falls. Also, find the potion of levitation to find several keys inside a stage(I won't tell you where to find it. So,good luck.)
At the end of level which you will have to fight against a nemises put before you,a rescue by you Kuros will set free a damsel in distress. Your main goal is to fight against Malkil, the evil wizard which legend has it ,turned his magic to the dark side(sounds familiar doesn't it) and rescue a princess whom has been imprisoned by the wizard inside Castle IronSpire.
I rate this game 3 1/2 stars out of five ,for an average challenging game; the length of it,and some of the colors of the graphics. Otherwise, for sound..well a 2 1/2 score for a 8 bit game,or unless you would rather stick with it,to feel of how games on the NES system did sound back in the 80's. If you had grown up in this period like myself.
Godspeed Kuros! The Armored Knight.
